![]() ![]() In 2005/2006, Rose invited anyone in town to sit for a portrait from life. All 180 portraits that she painted for Portrait of Maquoketa were on display at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. from November 6, 2009 through July 5, 2010. The portraits were accompanied by Voice of Maquoketa, a sound installation by Rose's brother, composer John Frantzen that features the voices of many of those whose portraits were painted. The National Portrait Gallery has posted a video of Rose's Gallery360 talk given at the exhibition in DC, on April 24, 2010. A new installation of Portrait of Maquoketa will be exhibited at the Figge Art Museum, October 27, 2012 through January 20, 2013. Stay tuned for details about new elements to be included at the Figge. These same elements will be included when Portrait of Maquoketa is installed at Maquoketa Art Experience following the Figge show. Old City Hall
